HOLY SOCIETY OF KING DAVID

“Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious.” – Psalm 66:2

Nothing can stop the Holy Society of King David from praising the Lord – not even the pandemic! Since the lockdown started, the King David ministry of the Cathedral of the King has continued its ministry in giving glory to God through music and movement. The Holy Society of King David consists of the Choir, Orchestra, and Movement Ministries, with the goal of leading people into a deeper relationship with Christ through praise and worship.

Despite the currently limited physical attendance in church, the King David ministry goes on as always in serving the Lord. Praise and Worship is vital in bringing life to the Liturgy, and so the ministry is represented in every Sunday Mass by at least three ministers from each of three ministries (Choir, Orchestra, and Movement), and at least a pianist from the Orchestra during daily morning Masses.

Apart from the physical ministry in church, the King David ministry has been undeniably active in making God known through social media. The choir has created a number of virtual renditions such as “We Stand United” and “Old Church Choir”, sending messages of hope through trying times. The movement ministers have also uploaded their own dance interpretations of different inspirational music such as “From Now On”, “Lamb of God”, and “O Rend the Skies”. The Orchestra launched Music for the Soul, a weekly musical offering of different worship songs featuring the instrumentalists of King David. Some of the notable renditions they have blessed us with are “He is the Resurrection and the Life” and “For You are Glorious”.

Let us remember the time when musicians were at the forefront of wars and battles, singing “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever!” The world may be facing a great battle right now, but we believe that our God is greater!
