January 14, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Then he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” (1 Samuel 3:5)

Samuel was a boy when God called him. In fact, he did not yet know the Lord, nor had His word been revealed to him yet. But be that as it may, it didn't hinder his sensitivity to hear His voice. Aside from having discernment, another good thing about Samuel was his readiness in responding to the call of ministry. He served the Lord by assisting Eli. Whenever he taught his leader was calling, he would run to receive his instruction. These may be why God chose to call him to be the next prophet. When we hear God calling, do we jump up to our feet and scramble to take His order? Or do we ignore Him and carry on with our unproductive online time? May we not miss out on the blessing wholehearted service brings.
