“The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does.” (John 5:19)

This is very true. Children pick up what they see their parents do, good or bad. But especially in the case of the Father and the Son who are in perfect unity, Jesus does only what God does. He is the exact representation of His Father. It is wrong to say God is grumpy and Jesus is merciful. Jesus went about doing good because that’s what His Father does; they have one essence.

Of that nature we all partake. We were created in that divine image. It may have been marred by sin but not completely effaced. Underneath the tarnish is the indelible imago Dei which God is more than able to bring back new, minted and restored. Because where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. And that goes for even the most sinful of men. So don’t judge or give up on anyone. They have hope.
