“Whatever He says to you, do it.” (John 2:5)

The first miracle Jesus performed was turning water into wine at a wedding. His mother told the servants to do whatever He says. His command to fill six thirty-gallon pots with water was not easy but they followed it. Imagine the effort and logistics it would require - a sufficient number of good buckets, a wagon to carry them to and from the well, and able-bodied men to do the task - which they would not have thought of preparing. But imagine as well the look on their faces when the water turned to what the somelier may have described as the best wine he's ever drunk.

God would never have us do something without first giving us ability. What He wants is for us to see His glory and take part in making it visible when we put our trust in Him. The story of the miracle challenges us to have the faith and obedience of the servants because that is our calling. Epiphany reminds us of this and encourages us to fulfill it.
