Jesus said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off. (Jn 4:50)
The gospel ot John records seven signs that Jesus performed, the second of which is the healing of a nobleman's son. This gentleman entreated the Lord to come to his house and pray for his son who was at the point of death. Jesus did not go with him but simply told him to head back home, assuring him that his son would live. The man believed and left. On his way, his servants met him to inform him his son had recovered. He found out it happened at the exact time Jesus said he would. That made him and his household believe.
Sometimes God doesn't answer our prayer exactly the way we want Him to. Perhaps we should make our request known but realize that in His omniscience He knows how best to accomplish things and that He is always more ready to hear than we to pray, to give more than we either desire or deserve, and to do more than we can ask or imagine. Having such faith will always be beneficial.
