July 28, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by His power at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20)

The gospel for today is about the feeding of the five thousand in John 6. Jesus wanted His disciples to feed the multitude but two of them could not see how they would be able to. Long story short, they brought to Jesus the little that they had, He multiplied it, and satisfied the hunger of all the people, with much left over.

The New Testament reading for today reminds us that God’s power is at work in us and it can do infinitely more than we can ask or think. We may feel overwhelmed by the needs of the multitude of people we are to minister to, but let us remember to rely not on our own ability but on our God’s inexhaustible provision and dunamis power. We can do all things through Him.
