On the Sabbath day he taught in the synagogue. (Mark 6:2)
When Jesus came back to His hometown after headlining news in other places, He taught in the village synagogue. The people of God in Nazareth rejected Him, except for a few whom He healed.
Preaching to jaded believers is more challenging than doing so to those who haven't heard the gospel. This is why Jesus sent His disciples first to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. This is also why today there is a new evangelization, a move to "evangelize" professing but non-practicing Christians. We need to let judgment (that is, straightening out) begin in the house of God. Then we can be effective in reaching out to Jesus' other sheep who are not yet in His fold.
