“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
The Father loved His creation and showed it by giving His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him can be born of God’s Spirit and have life. In this, the Trinity in unity, the community of love, is seen. This is the image we were created in.
In the beginning, at the conclusion of each day of creation, God looked at what He made and it was good. On the sixth day, after finishing everything, He looked at all of it and saw that it was very good. This reveals us a kingdom truth: each individual is good, but the harmonious whole is very good. When man sinned, that is, when he turned toward himself and away from his community, he defaulted on the total blessing. He may still have had some good in him, but it was way short of the life God intended for him.
We should realize then that THE FULLNESS OF GOODNESS IS IN ONENESS. That’s what the Trinity is about, and how we’re built. They’re not a puzzle for us to decipher, but a model for us to imitate.
