Monday, December 16: “What Kind of Will?”

Luke 22: 42: “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”

John’s advice to anyone asking “What shall we do?” could always be summed by the Christian mantra “Consider the needs of others above your own.” Facing His passion, Jesus Christ had to make that same choice, knowing that God’s will for Him was to suffer for the sake of mankind (Isaiah 53: 10). John lived and taught that God’s will is that we always follow His will. Can we pray this prayer that Jesus prayed in Gethsemane— daily? (Matthew 10: 6).
