Monday, July 8: “Misrepresented Involvement”

Romans 8: 26, 27: “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He Who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God..”

Is God watching us from a distance–or not watching us at all? Many will tell you that. St. Paul, however, reminds us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with deep and perfectly-targeted prayers as He searches our hearts. Further, tomorrow we read from his writings (v. 34) that Jesus Christ also prays for us from the Father’s right hand. That’s two Persons of the Godhead praying to the Other–for you! That’s involvement! Don’t let any vain philosophy tell you otherwise.
