Monday, November 4: “Bountiful Harvest”

Psalm 65: 11a, 13: “You have crowned the year with Your bounty … The meadows are clothed with flocks and the valleys are covered with grain; they shout for joy, yes, they sing.”

God’s factory setting (so to speak) for us is abundance and joy. This is His desire for His creation; for it to provide for His children. When we, the caretakers of His garden, are irresponsible in our duties of cultivating and keeping His Kingdom (Genesis 2: 15), He may withhold his blessing for a time, to alert us that we are off track with Him. But through flood and drought, famine and bounty, the overriding promise of God ever stands: “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and wheat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis 8: 22)
