“There is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life.” (Luke 18:29-30)
There are righteous people who suffer and unrighteous people who prosper. It's an injustice that is a harsh reality in this fallen world. To believe Jesus' statement above could be problematic because of this.
The letter to the Hebrews says the martyrs of old who sacrificed not just their goods but their lives as well will not receive God's promise apart from the rest of us. That's the universal future blessed hope. But Jesus clearly said there is also a reward in this life. I believe the heroes of faith of old did get many times as much as they sacrificed but not in the form of literal houses and properties. They received the joy of the Lord which is infinitely more than they could ask or imagine. May we also be faithful and find what they did.
