October 10, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Surely I will not enter my house, or lie on my bed, or give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” (Psalm 132:3-5)

Obviously, David is speaking hyperbolically here. He uses this literary style to accentuate the intensity of his desire to build a temple for God and his uneasiness with living in a cedar mansion while the people of God worship Him in a temporary tabernacle.

I am extremely thankful to be pastoring a church made up of people who have an equally intense zeal for the house of the Lord. I mean that in two senses: they're all-out in finishing the construction of a physical structure and they're just as faithful in building up His spiritual temple, the Body of Christ. There's no place I'd rather be and no people I'd rather shepherd than the very parish God gifted me with, Cathedral of the King -CEC, which I will serve for life because it is my life.
