Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (Psalm 20:7)
Ancient civilizations had a culture of war. They understood that possession of chariots and horses was an advantage on the battlefield. The sovereignty of empires of old rose and fell on military power.
Not so for us in the kingdom of God. In fact, quite the opposite. In it, greatness means being humble and regarding everyone else as more important. Like its King, we are called to rule and reign by serving and giving our lives for the life of others. We follow His example because our faith and trust are in Him and His ways alone, not in what the world puts a premium on.
