October 26, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we also forgive everyone who sins against us.” (Luke 11:2-4)
Through The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus instructs us to pray and to act on our prayer but also teaches us how to do both. It may be He who establishes God’s kingdom on earth as in heaven, but He encourages us to take part in it. How? By we asking God for our daily bread and forgiveness of our sins and, by that grace, doing our part which is to forgive those who sin against us just as well. That’s how He, the Lamb of God, takes away the sin of the world and brings about the restoration of all things.
Being the plan of the Almighty, this is unstoppable. But since He chooses to have us participate in it, the process can be hastened or slowed down by our obedience or disobedience. He's patiently waiting for us to step up.
