October 3, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

"I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings." (Hosea 6:6)

Twice Jesus quoted this scripture and revealed what God desires from His children. Right before saying it, God confronts His people and likens their loyalty to the morning dew that quickly evaporates. He reiterates that He is not impressed by trending but short-term accomplishments. He would rather we do small things but faithfully. When we stay the course and are faithful in planting and watering, God has something of which He can cause the growth.

Let us commit to fulfill the vows and covenants we make until the end. Steadfastness is a divine attribute and provides security and peace for its beneficiaries. God wants us to be like Him - reliable, trustworthy and true to His promise.
