Jonah 2: 1, 2, 6b: “Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the stomach of the fish, and he said, ‘I called out of my distress to the Lord, and He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice. You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God.’” The prophet’s beautiful words of faith are made even more beautiful by their context and setting—he was still inside the fish’s belly when he spoke them! You don’t have to wait for God’s deliverance to become visible before you begin thanking Him for it.
