Psalm 42: 5:“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.” Circumstances, expectations, people (especially people)—they all can (and probably will) let you down. Do we give up? Give in to despair? No, remember God from the land of the Jordan (v. 6), where you first entered the Promised Land. Or for Christians, remember the vows and covenant made at your baptism. What did you promise God at that time? And what did He promise you? Remember, and say goodbye to despair.
