Saturday, November 18: “True Light Rewards”
Matthew 16: 27:“For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.”
The Second Coming is much more than Jesus returning with a bag of goodies for us, and us finally receiving our salvation. Salvation is already a done deal, and the repayment (recompence) He brings “according to our deeds” is our particular role of eternal service in His Kingdom. This concept of Service as Reward is seen more than a dozen times in Scripture; The Goodie Bag Parousia approach, not so much. As in, never. The real focus of Christ’s coming is not us, but the light of His Father’s glory!
