Everything you have was given to you. If this is so, why do you brag as if you got these things by your own power? (1 Corinthians 4:7)
Moses warned the Israelites not to forget God when they prosper, have nice houses, herds, flocks and lots of money. He reminded them that it was the Lord who delivered them from slavery, led them through the fiery serpents, scorpions and thirsty ground of the wilderness and gave them manna and water in the midst of it. He told them not to think they amassed wealth by their own ability.Echoing Paul, the song says, āWhat can we give that You have not given? And what do we have that is not already Yours? All we possess are these lives we're living, and that's what we give to You, Lord.ā We must humbly maintain this attitude and faithfully use what we have received and offer it back to God. As the saying goes, what we have is Godās gift to us; what we become is our gift to God.
