"For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind." (John 9:39)
In chapter 9 of John’s gospel, there is a man blind from birth whom Jesus healed. He represents all men. All of us suffer from blindness because of sin. Some realize this and ask for God's deliverance. Others take longer, being deceived into thinking they can see.
Jesus said He came into the world so that those who do not see may see. But those who claim to see remain blind because they don't believe they need help. When they do, which hopefully is just a matter of time, the Jesus will still be there to grant their healing. Instead of gloating when we see someone in such a predicament, whether because of pride, hardness of heart or whatever reason, let us pray that the true Light who comes into the world and enlightens every man would be revealed to them so that they may regain their sight.
