Psalm 1: 2, 3a: “His delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season.” The one who builds his life on God’s law (His word, His way, His precepts, or one of the many other metaphors found in the psalms) is not dependent upon the fickle and transient ideas of man which, like the rain, come and go; sometimes too little, sometimes too much. But the streams of God are always there, providing just what man needs for life and godliness at the root level of his existence. This is what God promises for those who trust in Him.
