Sunday, May 12: “Seasons of Suffering I”
Exodus 3: 7, 8a: “The Lord said, ‘I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them.’”
In this age, suffering is a part of the human condition. To deny that, to claim that the Christian faith somehow exempts the believer from suffering, is to deny the plethora of scriptures which proclaim the suffering of Christ Himself. (Hebrews 5: 8; 1 Peter 2: 21; et al.) So the first thing you do, if you find yourself suffering, is to resist any condemnation. Secondly, know that God is aware, and He has come with deliverance. It may take a while by our standards, but He’s on it.
