Thursday, June 8: “Crusin’ thru 2 Cor, Part X”
2 Corinthians 8: 9: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.”
Our habit of always equating the terms ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ with net worth, monetary prowess, dollars and cents, keeps us from understanding what the Lord actually means by them. Jesus’ transformation from rich to poor did not involve real property or currency; it involved “emptying Himself, taking the form of a bondservant, and being made in the likeness of men.” (Philippians 2: 7). He never lacked anything; neither did He leave this earth with large holdings. His focus was giving, not getting; gathering souls, not gathering stuff. When we follow His example, we become the right kind of rich. SHOW LESS
