Thursday, October 31: “Blessed in Peril”

Psalm 34: 1: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

This psalm finds David having just been delivered from the wrathful suspicions of the king of Gath, but his troubles were not yet over; King Saul was still hot on his trail. Nevertheless, a grateful David kneels before the Lord at all times: before the battle, in the midst of it, and at its conclusion (Psalm 18, for instance). Continual praise and thanksgiving blesses the Lord, and is a catalyst for a happy (blessed) life.
