TRUE SERVANTS: ACOLYTES MINISTRY

1 Chronicles 23:28 says, “For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God.”

When the pandemic hit and lockdown was imposed in Metro Manila, the Acolytes continued to gather virtually every week. For them, it is important to take every opportunity to reflect on the Word of God and bond with each other. Even though these hard times have affected each of them in significant ways, the Acolytes see this as a challenge worth accepting.

Some of the church leaders started in the Acolytes Ministry. Part of the ministry’s vision is to train young people to step up and be future pillars of the church, and these virtual sessions are ways the members are trained to lead their younger brethren to the godly life of an acolyte. Here, each member is encouraged and challenged to lead in weekly devotions and serve at every Mass. It is an acolyte’s mission to serve the Lord with all their hearts and to live out their baptism every day - inside and outside the church.

Now that people are adapting to the new normal and government restrictions are gradually being lifted, Acolyte ministers have been able to come back to the church and serve in the house of the Lord. Despite the pandemic’s changing protocols and restrictions, the ministry continues to grow and magnify the love of Christ through service during these times.

After all, a true servant sees everything good. . . . . . #COTK #CEC
