Tuesday, May 28: “The Holy Trinity: Key to Incarnation”

1 Timothy 2: 5, 6: “There is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time."

In the Incarnation something astounding happened: The second Person of the Trinity, God the Son, became flesh and was found in appearance as a man–all without losing His divinity. This dual nature of Christ (Son of God, Son of Man) was necessary for Him to be a mediator between the two, for only a man could be a ransom for man’s sin, and only divinity could be that perfect sacrifice. In the fullness of time the Holy Trinity brought it forth, as the Holy Spirit “came upon” the Virgin Mary, and the power of the Most High “overshadowed Her”. Here began the Son’s earthly existence; as God, He had been since the beginning (John 1: 2).
