Wednesday, March 6: “More Important Than Yourselves IV”
1 Corinthians 8: 9, 11, 12: “Take care that this liberty of yours does not suddenly become a stumbling block to the weak … for through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died. And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.” One who uses his poor understanding of grace to excuse his lack of discipline reveals not spiritual wisdom, but pride–a valuation of self over others. In sinning against them we sin against Christ, and violate His purposes for us. Will we thoughtlessly cause someone to stumble whom we regard as more important than ourselves?
