How will you play the game?

By Shekaina Ingrid Diaz

Every blessing You pour out, I'll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord

This was our heartfelt battle cry. This was our team chant.

November 5 2016, Cathedral of the King workers gathered for a very important team meeting. As workers of and for the Lord, we started the day with a song of praise, one of which is Matt Redman’s Blessed be Your Name. This song serves as a reminder that as we go on this journey, there will be seasons of pain and unease but in those times, we are to stick closely as team members and find our voice before God.

After the team’s offering of worship to their Great Coach, Dcn. Ritche facilitated an activity for everyone to participate on. Members were grouped, instructions were laid down, and the activity ended with one focal point—in this journey, it’s not about “me” getting there alone. It’s not about a competition of us against them but a victorious life that leads all of us together.

After the activity, the discussion of the game plan began.

Our Father’s assistant coach, Bishop Ariel, reminded us that as we are on-going this business of restoration, may we realize that teamwork has an underlying letter “I” on it. It represents you and me. Teamwork is highly reliant to committed and passionate Individuals performing to their best for their Almighty Coach. Bishop left us with a reminder to not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. He capped it off with words of appreciation to all the willing team members who have been working so hard and true for the Kingdom’s work.

The Theme for the Church Calendar Year 2017 is BUILDING UP ITSELF IN LOVE: DISCIPLESHIP THROUGH THE FAMILY which shall begin on the First Sunday of Advent on November 27, 2016.

The meeting was then followed by a brief rundown of our church’s calendar of activities which was led by Fr. Roberto Jorvina and Fr. Gary Thurman.  One of the highlights is the Discipleship Summit which will happen on December 2016. Its sole vision is to put back importance on making disciples and making God known to everyone. As a team, this is our mission and this is our expected output.

Everyone grew excitement from hearing all the opportunities for ministry. But when Dcn. Junior showed a video presenting a walk-through of the vision for the church’s building, excitement grew even higher.

The team members were all enthusiastic in making a valuable contribution in this game plan presented by our coaches. That’s why after the team meeting as a whole, the members met with their leaders and discussed on how they can contribute well on this vision.

Because at the end of the day, Our Great Coach will ask us only one question and that is, “My child, how did you play the game?”
