“Old Habits”

Ezra 3: 12: “Yet many of the priests and Levites and heads of father’s households, the old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, while many shouted aloud for joy.’” Who were these old-timers who were complaining on a day of celebration? If they had seen the old temple, they were a part of the old generation, the same faithless ones whose infidelity had led to the exile in the first place. There are still many of their type around today, so don’t be swayed by them, and don’t listen to them!
