“Hopefully Devoted”

Psalm 132: 3-5: “Surely I will not enter my house, nor lie on my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids; until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” What was David’s first act upon being recognized as king by all Israel? He conquered Jerusalem, which he knew to be the chosen city of the Lord (1 Chronicles 11: 4-8). What was the second? He brought the ark to a proper resting place there (2 Samuel 6: 1-15). David knew all along that this was his primary purpose from God, and he didn’t rest until it was done. Solomon may have built the temple, but it was on a site won and prepared by David, with the wealth of the nations accumulated by him (1 Chronicles 29: 1-5).
