“Meaning of Service”

Mark 10: 31: “But many who are first, will be last; and the last, first.” Confident of his status in the Kingdom, Peter was busy mentioning all the things he and his fellow disciples had “given up” for Jesus’ sake (v. 28). But such sacrifice can become an effort to put ourselves first; such actions qualify us for last place every time. Service is not what we give up for Christ’s sake, but what we use in behalf of Him and His children.
