“The Affliction of Disrespect”

Mark 11: 32b: “For all considered John to have been a prophet indeed.” John the Baptist tended to get a lot of disrespect from certain quarters (perhaps because he called them vipers). His top aides were prone to quarrel, and many left him (perhaps because he told them to follow Jesus instead). But underneath it all, he had the respect of the people. Likewise, most of us know disrespect and underestimation from friends, family, workmates, you name it. But take comfort; there are always some who admire you for who you really are, especially the Lord Who made you.
