Friday, November 3: “True Light Opposed”

Matthew 13: 24, 25: “The Kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.”

The trouble with false light is that it is usually created to be attractive, compelling, and exciting. Think of the flashing lights in a casino or a commercial center; there to allure you to participate in its enticements. But the weeds in Jesus’ parable work differently. They look just like wheat–until they mature. This shows the false light of deception. It seems logical, intelligent, progressive–but it’s off the Gospel track, and it can be difficult to discern. But, as the end of the parable shows, God has His ways.
