“Patience”

Acts 28: 30: “He (Paul) stayed two full years in his own rented quarters, and was welcoming all who came to him.” After the journey from hell, St. Paul finally arrives in Rome for his trial before Caesar—and ends up on a two-year waiting list. No problem! He had time to write, preach, mentor, and pastor unhindered. Biblical and post-biblical references tell us he eventually did get that audience with Caesar, who set him free—for a time, until he was martyred shortly before the fall of Jerusalem. But, as he had said to the Philippians, “For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain.” (Philippians 1: 21)
