Thursday, March 21: “Trust in the Lord’s Weaning”
Psalm 131: 2b, 3: “Like a weaned child rests against its mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever.”
As seen yesterday, a child is born with fully-developed trust. It is not so with faith; it must be developed from little more than presumption to maturity. We are weaned from breast milk to solid food. This requires trust in God, for we go from easy, familiar solutions to a more complicated existence which requires more responsibility–and more faith. But through it all, we still rest in the Lord and trust always in Him.
