“King Converter”
Daniel 6: 26: “I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel; for He is the living God and enduring forever, and His Kingdom is one which will not be destroyed, and His dominion will be forever.” Daniel served under four kings: Nebuchadnezzar, who eventually came to his senses and honored God (Daniel 4: 34-37) only after spending seven years impersonating a cow; Belshazzar, who was slain before having a chance to properly humble himself before the Lord (Daniel 5: 30); Darius, who became convinced of God’s power after Daniel’s overnight stay in the lion’s den, as we see in today’s reading; and Cyrus, who, perhaps influenced by Daniel, ended Israel’s exile. Talk about influence in high places! Lord, give us Daniel’s today, in every nation!
