“More than a Divine Elevator”

Psalm 68: 1; 18: “Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered. … You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives, You have received gifts among men, even among the rebellious also, that the Lord God may dwell there.” The Ascension is always associated with God’s victory over His enemies. (See also Psalm 47: 3-5) It marks not just a return home for the Son of God, but the exaltation of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ (Philippians 2: 9), and the putting of all things under His feet (Hebrews 2: 8). No wonder tomorrow’s Feast of the Ascension has always been considered by the Church as a major Holy Day, to be celebrated and observed throughout all generations. Will you take time to celebrate it?
