“Convergence, First Century Style”

Acts19: 1-3: “Paul came to Ephesus, and found some disciples, and he said to them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ And they said to him, ‘No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.’ ‘Into what were you baptized then?’ ‘Into John’s baptism.’” Apollos, who knew only the baptism of John (Acts 18: 24-25), had left behind some disciples in Ephesus. When he departed for Corinth, Paul, having recently arrived in Ephesus from Corinth, found them and introduced them to the fullness of the Christian message, igniting a long-term revival. We must not back away from the fact that, then and now, part of evangelism is introducing believers to the three streams of the faith.
