“The Danger of Straying”

James 5: 19-20: “My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth, and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death …” Can a soul stray from the truth, even to the point of death? St. James seems to think so, even saying that it could happen to “any among you” (believers). Where’s the mercy of God in that? In his sending someone (maybe you?) to turn the sinner from his sinful way. Yes, God still cares!
