The Family of God: Out to Win the Straying Brother

I A m Y o u r F r i e n d

Are you afraid to let anyone know about your mistakes? Are you scared you’ll be condemned? The Gospel today states why you should not be afraid or scared when you make a mistake: because there are a lot of people who are there for you if you need help. Jesus says in Matthew 18:20 that “For where two or three have gathered together in My Name, there I am in their midst.” It means that God will cover all your mistakes, failures, and faults in life.

In our society today, if someone makes a mistake we post it on our social media and show it to the world. But I have a question for those who do this: Did you help that person? Did you help them change his or her life? Or did you just make it worse? If someone has made a mistake in their life we must to listen and reprove them (not condemn them) in private so that they will know that there is a friend that is ready to help them to be a better person. We must not use social media to condemn our friends who are in need of help because it was also stated in the gospel that you should listen and reprove (Matthew 18: 15).

Listening to our brothers and sisters can create a big change in their lives, because you have lessened the chance of them doing the same mistake again. We are children of God and we are a family that should help each other to grow and to be better in life.
