“Proper Posture”

1 Kings 18: 42: “So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he crouched down on the earth, and put his face between his knees.” The Bible shows us numerous positions for prayer. Some prayed while in their beds, some while leaning on their staff, one from the belly of a great fish. But this one - crouched down, with face between the knees - surely worked for Elijah when he wanted to get down to business with God and “pray earnestly.” (James 5: 17, 18) The drought of 42 months broken, he also received the power of God to outrun a chariot over a period of about thirty miles (v. 46). Now that’s prayer power, regardless of the position!
