“More than Words”

Matthew 7: 7: “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.” Jesus continues on the theme (undeclared though it is) of faith and works with this declaration: Asking is good, but also included in the triumvirate must be seeking and knocking. No amount of excuses (But I already looked everywhere, for at least five minutes! Knocking hurts my knuckles. He’s God, doesn’t He have a doorbell?) can replace them; without them, it’s just faith without works, and we know there’s no life there (James 2: 26); neither is there answered prayer.
