“Minds Set”

Romans 8: 6: “For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.” St. Paul spent much of the first half of Romans telling us about the battle in our minds: What we believe and want, the Law of Moses, versus the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death always won (Romans 7: 23). But when the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus joined the fight (Romans 8: 2) things changed. Dramatically! Now we are free to set our minds on what we really want – flesh or Spirit (Romans 8: 5), and receive the properly corresponding fruit. Choosing the things of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23) will always bring the fruit of life!
