“Gotta Show the Reverence!”

Psalm 119: 38: “Establish Your Word to your servant, as that which produces reverence for You.” Continuing the thought of the previous two days: Believing is work (John 6: 29), but work is not enough. Truly abiding in the Word of Christ will bring one to a reverence (a feeling of deep respect, love, awe, and esteem) of Him, which becomes a foundation of many other graces and virtues. Those of John 8: 31 (see Monday’s Memo) didn’t have that; they often disrespected Jesus with doubts and accusations. Thus, they couldn’t come into truth and freedom.
