“I Don’t Get No Respect!”   (with apologies to Rodney Dangerfield)

Job 19: 16-18: “I call to my servant, but he does not answer, I have to implore him with my mouth. My breath is offensive to my wife, and I am loathsome to my own brothers. Even young children despise me; I rise up and they speak against me.” Obviously those in Job’s life had never read the psalm verse we reflected on this past Wednesday! No sign of respect or reverence here! But before you regress to the disrespect or irreverence of another, be aware: Things have a way of turning around. Job ended up even more prosperous than before his calamities, with twice as many children.
