“Minor Matters?”

Micah 1:1 : “The word of the Lord which came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz. And Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.” Micah worked in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah; another prophet, the famous Isaiah, worked in their very palaces. He would seem to overshadow Micah: His book has sixty-six chapters compared to Micah’s seven, and he is quoted in countless sermons and scholarly works, as well as by Christ Himself. But although Micah might be considered major, Micah is far from minor. He gave us the prophecy about Jesus being born in Bethlehem (5: 2), showed us the heart of God (6: 8), and commanded us to build our walls (7: 11). Even when others consider you minor, remember that whoever follows God’s direction is major in His eyes.
