“Salt of the Earth”

Ecclesiasticus 38: 31, 34: “All these [farmers, tradesmen, craftsmen] rely upon their hands, and each is skillful in his own work ... They keep stable the fabric of the world, and their prayer is in the practice of their trade.” Who keeps the world going round? Christ, of course (Hebrews 1: 3), but in addition to Him? Rulers, prophets, educators, business moguls? Perhaps according to popular belief, but according to God it is the everyday citizen, filling his or her role and doing it as unto the Lord, who is the backbone of society. These are those who are rich in faith (James 2: 5) and powerful in prayer, who have the ear of God and dwell in His heart. Let them be respected by us as well as God!
