“Nighttime Callers”

Mark 1: 32, 33: “When evening had come, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city had gathered at the door.” Why the late-night visit? Didn’t they have work or school the next day? It was the Sabbath (v. 21) and there were restrictions on travel to anywhere other than the synagogue. They had to wait till sundown, which marked the start of the next day. So Peter’s mother-in-law, freshly healed, got to serve as hostess to the entire town in the middle of the night – the price of fame!
