“The Opposition of Truth”

2 Timothy 3: 8: “And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected as regarding the faith.” St. Paul showed Timothy in 2: 15 how truth could be mishandled; basically, by not knowing it, but feeling obligated to proclaim our version of it anyway. Jannes and Jambres, the two Egyptian magicians, were certainly guilty of this. But the Lord revealed their folly, as the Israelites left a devastated Egypt, while the two deceivers stayed behind. Knowing the truth liberates, opposing the truth brings troubles.
